QUEEN MARGARET ACADEMY, AYR
Scotland’s Schools for the Future Programme, saw the £25M Queen Margaret Academy delivered by BDP Architects and Keir Construction.
Working alongside glazing contractor Linn-Tech, we installed and commissioned a combined smoke and natural ventilation system designed by WM BROWN and engineering consultants Ramboll UK.
Electrically actuated windows at high and low level, powered by fully battery backed controls create a building wide smoke ventilation network. System compliance to EN12101 was achieved via the careful selection of SE Controls range of products which are fully tested with the Metal Technology 4-35 window system.
Controls are linked to the school Building Management System - allowing windows to open and close in 10% increments depending on weather, temperature and cO2 levels - meaning teachers, pupils and visitors can enjoy a naturally ventilated space,
In addition to this, we installed Teleflex-Clearline manual controls to classroom vents to enable operation of hard to reach windows - all part of the creation of a healthy learning environment.
